Help Refugees, now with US sister org Choose Love inc (501c3) began four years ago and has gone onto become one of the major sources of aid for the refugee crisis in Europe, The Middle East and now on the US/ Mexican border.
CHOOSE LOVE is a movement of thousands of people, acting to improve the lives of refugees and displaced people. We work to fill gaps in services across Europe and the Middle East and on the US Mexico border. In the last four years we’ve grown from a hashtag in to one of the largest facilitators of grassroots aid in Europe. We respond rapidly, flexibly and effectively - whether that is procuring material aid, raising emergency funds, or modifying operations to support new arrivals. The majority of our small team in London has been with Help Refugees since its inception (or shortly thereafter), and many have spent time within our projects. As a team we are informed, adaptable, efficient and, perhaps most importantly, dedicated.
Each holiday season we open the CHOOSE LOVE shops. CHOOSE LOVE is the world’s first shop where you can buy real gifts for refugees. The shop is packed with much needed items like kid’s coats, winter boots, tents and sleeping bags. And there are symbolic items representing vitals services like legal aid, mental health care and support for LGBT refugees. Every purchase made goes towards that item via one of the 100+ projects in that Help Refugees support across the world in 15 countries, including on the US Mexico border, Greece, Lebanon and France. This year our shops are in London, LA, New York and online.
We are aiming to create a global movement where we CHOOSE LOVE over the holidays and shop for those most in need. We have gained momentum with supporters such as Oprah, Julia Roberts, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jameela Jamil, Stephen Colbert, Sam & Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Annabelle Wallis and many more.
