Former stylist and personal shopper Jen Moore founded Shadow Light Healing with her fiancé and cofounder, Michael Maloney, after realizing her ability to offer others emotional support and problem solving tools. With Shadow Light Healing, Moore offers life coaching, healing and meditation counseling to anyone looking to overcome traumas, nuture relationships, or become more connected to themselves. Here, she takes us through her healing journey.

on LIFE BEFORE COACHING AND HEALING

Before I began my career in Life Coaching and Healing (and before founding Shadow Light Healing), I was a celebrity fashion stylist and personal shopper. I really got to know my clients and worked with many different personality types. I realized that most of their personal obstacles were caused by only a few core issues that were very relatable to my own life. It inspired me to start this business because I found myself offering emotional support and advice that actually worked.

My fiancé and business partner, Michael, is a photographer and has been in FinTech for many years. He has a passion for helping people and solving problems. He is able to leverage a lot of his own growth and experience when he works with his clients. He also helps me develop tools and practices while handling most of the back-end stuff - thank god. 

 

 ON BECOMING A HEALER 

I became a healer because I wanted to share my experiences and knowledge with others. I wanted to help people heal from trauma that they have held on to for most of their lives, and I wanted to help them realize their potential. All of the experience and knowledge I have gained allows me to relate to my clients and give them practical tools to overcome any obstacle. Not only have I healed myself, but I have also gotten to a point in my life where my relationships are easy and rewarding and I am building a career I only ever dreamed about. I want this for everyone I work with and know that they can get there too. 

Helping people exceed what they thought possible for themselves brings me joy every single day. 

ON HOW HEALING HAS HELPED HER DURING CHALLENGING TIMES LIKE THESE

Life Coaching and healing has allowed me to help my clients reframe their stories and experiences, to find the beauty and joy in each moment, and appreciate whatever life throws at them. I think it is really important, especially in times like this, to use the time that is given to you to accept yourself and learn how to grow. We finally have time to focus on ourselves! 


ON HOW HEALING WORKS

There are several types of healing that I do. There is healing during life coaching, energy healing, and meditation. The healing that life coaching offers is the most practical type. It heals you from past trauma by teaching you how to reframe your story and look at your failures as learning opportunities. It builds self-confidence and helps you communicate in a way that can heal existing relationships, build healthy ones, and get you the things you want. Energy healing is about aligning your spiritual self with the physical. We have chakras in our bodies that pertain to each organ, and it helps release the negativity that resides within us. Meditation also allows us to connect with ourselves, understand who we are, and remain in the present. Each experience is unique to the individual. The process is tailored to whatever it is that person is going through, and we work together to get them to a place they may never have thought possible. 

ON HOW TO START MEDITATING

The easiest way to start meditating is with a guide. Start slow and have patience. Mediation can be difficult, and I find that people place a lot of pressure on themselves to have a clear mind, to experience something, and do it “correctly.” Let go of any expectations you may have and figure out what works best for you.

ON THE BENEFITS ONE CAN EXPECT FROM A SESSION

My clients have been able to heal relationships with friends and family, navigate the world of online dating (yes, even during the pandemic), learn to communicate in a productive way, gain confidence in themselves, and heal from traumas that they have held onto their entire lives. 

In a single session we are able to create a better understanding of our obstacles, realign the thoughts we are having, and reframe the story we are telling ourselves. We can work on individual problems, but the real transformation comes from several sessions over a course of 6 months or longer. The problems we deal with on a day to day basis all have similarities, and the better we get at resolving those individual problems, the better we are at handling anything that life throws our way. I have had clients experience major transformations in a very short period of time. Helping people exceed what they thought possible for themselves brings me joy every single day.
